Dr Richard Hale has over recent years taught on the subjects of leadership and Impact & Influence in the international MBA programme in Madeira delivered by www.institutodeturismo.org/ . In the attached article in the Maderian press Richard describes his views on the future of leadership and the benefits of taking an action learning based approach to developing the emotional intelligence of leaders. Richard says of his experience of working with leaders in Madeira: ‘I really enjoy working with the leaders in business and the public sector in Madeira. I feed off the level of enthusiasm of others and there is a real interest in learning and business improvement which has a real impact on the island, whose main industry is the hospitality sector. What Sort of A leader Am I? Workshop MBA Madeira

11-12th September: I delivered a leadership workshop to the MBA group in Funchal, Madeira, run by IPDT.

As ever I was refreshed by the level of enthusiasm of the participants, who come from several sectors including hospitality and local government. We introduced action learning questions and co-consulting and raised the challenge for participants to think about what sort of a leader they are and want to be. I am back soon to deliver Impact and Influence.

I am currently conducting research into the extent to which the field of ‘outsourcing’ is emerging as a profession. This will support the work I am doing introducing an action learning based qualification and professional development pathway for the National Outsourcing Association ( see http://www.noa.co.uk/index.php/qualifications/ ). I welcome your views here and will be posing questions over the coming months for discussion. I will be pleased to share the findings of my research when they are published.
